GE Digital has its eyes set on opportunities of the future, a prominent being the application of Internet of Things to the core sector. Predix was launched as an application platform that brings together industrial equipment, data analytics and real-time insighting to unleash new performance levels. The Predix Cloud was then introduced to decipher the endless realms of data with applications in the fields of healthcare, aviation, healthcare, energy and so on. Recently, at the GE Minds and Machines conference in San Francisco, GE announced an extension of Predix functionalities, designed for use by non-technical professionals such as operators and business analysts. The company also unveiled a new software architecture based on a distributed model, which would help deliver next-level machine intelligence for industrial use.

In an Internet of Things centric move, General Electric Digital is on the lookout for partners for its Predix platform. The team has been searching for suitable independent software providers (ISV) since the past few months, to add on new applications such as content development, maintenance, and asset management functionalities to Predix. The additions are expected to increase the reach of Predix to its customers by catering to broader industrial needs.
The company is widely propagating its Independent Software Provider (ISV) program, to lure them to tie up with GE. The precursor to sign up as a partner is that the provider must be seen as sharing the vision of the company for digital transformation. The partners who sign up shall get extensive support from GE, including access to Predix capabilities, its data and security and application development support. GE is also expected to train the ISVs on the various developmental aspects such as development technologies, beta-launch processes and release mechanisms to ensure a fast and effective market launch. The focus of development shall be industrial applications-led, in order to revolutionize how the Internet of Things is applied in the core industry to create an outstanding digital industrial experience.

Collaboration has always been a way of life at GE. In February, earlier this year, it launched its Digital Alliance Program. This program aimed at tying up with hundreds of thousands of resellers, system integrators and ISVs that were specialised in the Industrial Internet of Things domain. The benefit is two-fold, while GE sees benefits from the specialized skills of these niche operators, the association allows such small players to scale up and fit into a larger scheme of things of GE-scale.
GE Digitals ISV program currently has about 100+ registered partners with at least 35 actively at the stage of already developing a commercial industrial solution.
